Caldwell University is the Place for STEM

Since 1939, Caldwell University has attracted the best and brightest from around the region and around the globe. Caldwell students are inspired to achieve, and their success is always our priority. In addition to a wide variety of programs, Caldwell students receive comprehensive academic and career support from their first day on campus. Earning a college education is a team sport, and we are here to do our part to ensure that our graduates are well-positioned to meet their goals and begin their careers on the right foot.

STEM Advance Program

The STEM Advance Project is funded by a grant from the Department of Education’s Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM and Articulation Program. The project aims to increase the number of students who choose STEM majors and pursue careers in STEM.

Through this project, we will promote student success and deepen students’ understanding of what it means to be a scientist. Through the grant, we have been able to:

  • Hire new faculty in various STEM disciplines
  • Develop new courses that introduce students to STEM careers and prepare them for STEM classes
  • Renovate our chemistry instrument room
  • Upgrade our computer science classrooms
  • Obtain new equipment such as spectrometers and data acquisition systems
  • Hire an Academic Coach to help students with their time management and academic skills
  • Hire a Resource Coordinator to help students access non-academic resources

The grant also allows us to hire STEM majors to serve other students and the university as:

  • STEM ambassadors for our Office of Admissions
  • Undergraduate laboratory instructional assistants
  • Supplemental instruction leaders

In addition, the grant helps students to experience STEM by financially supporting summer activities such as internships and independent research projects.
