This spooktacular event is back by popular demand! The Chamber Young Professionals are excited to host the Chamber's annual Trunk or Treat event Oct. 30, 2024, from 5-7 p.m.
Families can enjoy food truck food, free candy from Chamber members, hot chocolate and family fall portraits! Plus, follow the trail through William B. Howard Station Park to find even more sweet treats and ghoulish costumes along the way.
This is a free community event with fun for the whole family! Chamber members can get involved in three ways!
- Register to decorate a trunk! Vendors pay just $40 to pass out candy and promotional materials to parents. Trunk vendors must decorate their trunk, wear a costume and provide a fun, simple activity for kids to play while networking with their parents. Activities in the past included put-put golf, bean bag toss, plinko, etc.
- Register to set up a table along the trail! Vendors can set up their own table and chair, decorate their area and provide some spooky entertainment while handing out candy and promotional materials for just $25. Trail vendors must bring décor, wear a costume and provide a fun, simple activity for kids to play while networking with their parents. Activities in the past included put-put golf, bean bag toss, plinko, etc.
- Volunteer! Help the Chamber set up and tear down, help put out signs in the community, or help hand out free hot chocolate to attendees! Click HERE to volunteer!

UCM Workforce Training Graduates Honored at Lee's Summit Ceremony |
The University of Central Missouri (UCM) celebrated adult learners who successfully completed workforce training at a graduation ceremony hosted Monday, Sept. 23 at UCM’s Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit. The 36 graduates earned industry-recognized certificates through programs designed to prepare them for careers in high-demand fields. The recent graduates included 17 from the Sterile Processing Technician program, four from the Clinical Medical Assistant program, six from the Medical Billing Professional with Remote Worker program and nine from the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Five of the CNA graduates completed the program through a course offered in cooperation with PREP-KC, a metro-area organization that brings education, high-school students and industry professionals together to build paths to meaningful careers. “Graduation is a highlight for the students, their families and all of us at UCM who have watched these students work so hard to achieve their education goals that will advance their careers,” said Clarinda Dir, UCM manager for Workforce and Professional Education. “This is just the beginning for them as they write their career story.” |

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by delivering high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to the homes of registered children under age 5, at no cost to the family.
The Missouri Imagination Library was made possible by legislation (Section 178.694 RSMo) that identifies school districts as the local partner for this initiative. Full funding was included in DESE’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget to establish and administer Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for all children in Missouri age 0-5.
There is no cost to schools for the books or the postage to deliver them.

Our Chamber After Hours Networking Event - Wings 4 Water - was a massive success!
A big thank you to everyone who volunteered in the Chamber’s tent.

With Chiefs red everywhere (perfect for hiding wing sauce stains), attendees enjoyed live music, voted for their favorite wings (with 100% of vote dollars supporting global clean water and local relief efforts), and indulged in incredible flavored wings from around 40 different booths.

We had a fantastic time learning the power of improv at Recess for Success with Megan Mercer at the Missouri Innovation Campus.
During this interactive workshop, members discovered how improv can ignite creativity, enhance collaboration, and sharpen problem-solving skills in the workplace.

We celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship at our annual Breakfast For Champions event Friday, Sept. 13 at MCC-Longview with special guest speakers Mike and Benay Shannon from Restless Spirits Distilling Company!
The company specializes in spirits and RTDs, including vodka, gin, malt whiskey, and Irish whiskey. Restless Spirits also has the exclusive U.S. import rights for Sons of Erin Irish Whiskey, a brand made by Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Ireland. The company's name and products pay homage to Kansas City's Irish history.
Restless Spirits have been recognized as the Missouri Distillery of the Year for the last several years and their spirits have been proudly served at Kauffman Stadium and recognized as the Official Gin of the Boston Red Sox!
We loved hearing the story of how they built their business from the ground up - starting with a passion and a dream.

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month |
We would like to give a special shoutout to El Plato and the Rivera family for graciously hosting the D&I Committee members, Chamber Board, staff, and Ambassador Committee for lunch last month in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month which runs from September 15th to October 15th.
