EBOR 2025 Conference Registration Form

The Fourteenth International Evolving British Object Relations (EBOR) Conference

“Live from Seattle: The Music of Psychoanalysis”

Hosted by the Northwestern Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (NPSI) and

Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (SPSI)

🗓️ October 17-19, 2025

📍 The Labour Temple, Seattle, Washington 98121

Please join us in Seattle as we explore the profound interplay between psychoanalysis and music at the 2025 EBOR Conference. This year’s theme is inspired by Adam Blum, Peter Goldberg, and Michael Levin’s book, “Here I’m Alive: The Spirit of Music in Psychoanalysis” (2023, Columbia University Press).

A Brief History of the International Evolving British Object Relations Conference
Located in beautiful Seattle, Washington, NPSI (Northwestern Psychoanalytic Society and Institute) began hosting the International Evolving British Object Relations (EBOR) in 2003. The plenary speakers we have featured are: Ronald Britton, James Grotstein, James Gooch, Elizabeth Bianchedi, Giuseppe Civitarese, Mark Solms, Maxine Anderson, Avner Bergstein, Clara Nemas, to name just a few.
This is our first LIVE format since 2018. The in-person pleasure of meeting in 2025 will be further heightened by our three presenters: Adam Blum, Peter Goldberg, and Michael Levin.

Peter Goldberg, Ph.D. is a Personal and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California, Chair of Faculty at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, and on the faculty of the Wright Institute in Berkeley. He has presented widely and written on a range of clinical and theoretical topics including the evolution of clinical theory in psychoanalysis; sensory experience in analysis; the concept of the analytic frame; the theory and treatment of dissociative states; non-representational states; and the impact of social trauma on individual psychology. He is in private practice in Albany, CA

Michael Levin, Psy.D. is a Training Analyst and Faculty Member at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. He has taught and presented on topics including the work of Laplanche, phenomenology and psychoanalysis, and the place of psychoanalysis in cultural and intellectual history. He is in private practice in San Francisco.

Adam Blum, Psy.D. is an Adjunct Faculty Member at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. He has written and presented on psychoanalysis and the music of Björk, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Frank Ocean, Stephen Sondheim, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Jackson.
