Balmoral Supports the Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen at First Presbyterian was started over 40 years ago to provide a hot meal on Sunday afternoons to the food insecure of Memphis. Back then, there was no organization in Memphis that offered a meal on Sundays. The Soup Kitchen founder famously said, "well people are hungry on Sundays too!"

First Presbyterian Church provides the facilities and the leadership while volunteers from around Memphis assist in welcoming our guests, serving a hot meal, and outfitting guests in the clothes closet.

BPC supports the Soup Kitchen in several ways:

  • BPC volunteers 3 or 4 times a year, setting up, serving the lunch guests, and helping to clean up
  • Once a month, we make a WHOLE PILE of sandwiches to be served at the Soup Kitchen
  • Monetary Donations

IT'S SANDWICH TIME!

SOUP KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS

Balmoral takes a turn volunteering at the Soup Kitchen at First Presbyterian, 3 or 4 times a year. We leave Worship during the Offering time and carpool from the BPC parking lot. Lunch is either at a restaurant downtown or eat at 1st Pres.

We are usually back at BPC about 3:30.
