Plenty! Farm and Food Pantry located in Floyd, Virginia is hiring an experienced leader with strong program management skills to serve as the Executive Director for our community’s beloved food security non-profit. Plenty! as an organization was founded on the tradition of neighbors helping neighbors. The Executive Director must be a good neighbor and uphold and embody the values of the organization. The Executive Director will champion organizational values and lead Plenty! in fulfilling its mission to nourish the Floyd County community.


Plenty! nourishes community and preserves Floyd County traditions by encouraging neighbors to grow and share food while enlivening the greater conversation about sustainable food practices. We value freshness in produce and program, generosity in giving and receiving; welcoming each and every person, preserving Floyd County’s land and culture. Our programs provide access to fresh healthy food and teach growing and cooking skills.

Executive Director (ED)

  • Reports to the Board of Directors
  • This is a full time, year round position requiring some evening and weekend work for an average 40 hour work week.


This is a salaried position. Competitive compensation based on qualifications

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist Board of Directors in setting strategic goals and implement plans to achieve goals.
  • Monitor key metrics to ensure mission alignment and success
  • Supervise staff; responsible for job descriptions, performance appraisals, setting annual goals
  • Assist Board of Directors in developing the budget monitor income and expenses, maintain fiscal responsibility
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Cultivate/develop individual donors and manage giving campaigns.
  • Develop support from civic organizations and religious/church groups
  • Identify, apply for, and manage funds from government organizations, grants and foundations
  • Lead/cultivate fundraising events.
  • Develop and maintain a social media presence
  • Be an Advocate for Plenty! in the community


  • 4 year college degree or relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and program management skills
  • Demonstrated fundraising and sales/marketing experience
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks – ability to manage a budget
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to relate to people of all walks of life without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, lifestyle, socioeconomic background, age, ability, political or religious beliefs.
  • Demonstrated writing experience, grant writing a plus
  • Demonstrated effective verbal communication. Public speaking is required.
  • Volunteer Management required
  • Experience in staff leadership skills; ability to model, inspire, motivate and create change.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Comfortable in a Windows based office environment using web-based databases and Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of rural life is a plus. A knowledge of Floyd County is preferred.
