ARE SCHOLARS – MARYLAND STEM SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITITY

ARE Scholars Now Accepting Applications for the 2025-2026 Scholastic Year

The Maryland Tech Council is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., ARE Scholars is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 scholastic year. The scholarships are offered in the amount of $5,000 annually, for up to two years, to four graduating high school students while they attend a four-year program at a Maryland-based university of their choice to study in one of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.


Applicants will need to complete this application form and submit a school transcript, an essay, and one letter of recommendation.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria

  • Applicants must be planning to enroll for the Fall 2025 semester in a STEM concentrated major
  • Applicants must attend a Maryland-based four year university
  • Applicants must maintain a minimum of GPA of 3.0 at their current institutions
  • Recipients must be able to accept the scholarship in person at Maryland Tech Council’s Industry Awards Celebration on May 21, 2025, at 6:30PM at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center

Required Materials for Application

  • Completed application form
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Students must include the letter of recommendation in their application package submission.
  • School transcript (a current, unofficial transcript will suffice)
  • Essay (500–1,000 words) that addresses the following prompts:
  • How your work in your STEM area of interest has the capacity to improve the world around us (advance human health, solve hunger, cure disease, decrease poverty, etc.)
  • How your higher education will help you make this impact on the world

Application Deadline

The deadline for submission is Friday, April 4, 2024 by 11:59pm. Winners will be contacted April 30, 2025.
