Two Upcoming Presbytery Meetings

For the first time in over two and a half years, the Presbytery of Arkansas will gather “in person” for the 151st stated fall meeting. Due to heating and air repair delays in the Fayetteville church’s sanctuary, we will gather at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville on October 28 and 29. The theme of the meeting will be “Celebrating Being Together”. Friday evening, we will plan time to celebrate our being together with a special reception following the worship service. We will hear a special announcement of a gift given to the Presbytery that will enhance our opportunities to gather together in the future. On Saturday, our Matthew 25 task force will lead our opening worship which will lead into our theological discussion.

We are extremely grateful to First Presbyterian Bentonville for agreeing to host our meeting on very short notice. Our offering during the worship service will go to the First Presbyterian Bentonville food pantry, which will have to take a Saturday off in order to host our meeting. Registration information will come later in the month with a reminder that we will need firm reservations in order to plan for our meal on Saturday. We will plan to “livestream” the meeting for those who cannot attend, and we will be attempting to plan for “electronic interaction” in the meeting by Zoom if possible. Hotel reservations can be made in the Rogers/Bentonville area at the hotel booking site of our choice.

At this meeting we will have a newly elected stated clerk. Our new clerk will be elected at a special called meeting of the presbytery which will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 9:00 am on the Presbytery’s Zoom account. We will have a “roll call” for attendance so there is no need to register in advance. We will send out a notification about this meeting next week, which will include biographical information about the candidate and will include the Zoom link for the meeting. This will be our only business considered so the meeting should be brief.

I look forward to coming together both on Zoom and “in person” in the coming weeks. If you have any questions about either of the upcoming meetings, please call me at 501-663-2424 or email at
