Marcus Sabom is an author, film writer and director, Born and raised in Houston, TX, Marcus always had a passion for writing, and like any self-respecting angsty and insecure teen, his earliest writing was bad poetry that will hopefully never see the light of day.
In 2009, Marcus stumbled upon the local film scene and his love of writing bad poetry turned into a love of writing (hopefully) good stories. A lifelong horror fan, his love of the dark and disturbing led him to write scripts for horror shorts like In Extremis and the more lighthearted Cocky Curls, as well as participating in local productions as an actor in My So-Called Afterlife, Killing Mr. Right, and Zombiefied.
After much coaxing, he finally decided to try directing, he started with the soon-to-be-released feature length film The Good Friend, the dramatic short Catching Up, the comedic short Let The Drama Begin, and as well as directing a music video for Houston based metal band Black Market Tragedy for their song Red Awakening.
Disillusioned by directing but still loving writing, a friend encouraged him to try writing prose and Marcus finally found the outlet he needed. Starting by converting unused scripts into novels and short stories, Marcus has written a novelization of his movie The Good Friend, the full-length novel Nikki, and the short story Melting Point. Marcus has also contributed two novels to the YA urban fantasy fairy series A Faeries Tale, started by his dear friend and long suffering editor, Rebecca Torrellas.
When he isn't at work or pursuing his other passion of photography, Marcus is working on his next story under the close supervision of his pet cats. |
