Sandra Biersdorfer is an award-winning children's book author and an East Texas Native. Sandra has always enjoyed reading and writing, and is a huge advocate of reading to children as early as possible.


A former substitute teacher, Sandra attributes her love of children's books to all those she has read to throughout the years, and has helped develop her expertise for pinpointing what children like and want to hear in a story. Katherine Briggs NEW FOR 2024!

Katherine Briggs crafted her first monster story at age three. Since graduating from crayons to laptop, she continues to devour and weave fantasy tales while enjoying chai tea.

Dr. La'Krystal K. Foster has a passion for education. With over 13 years of experience, she’s dedicated to the early childhood sector, where professionals develop and obtain knowledge to become the most effective educators for their students.


Her first book, Lou Prepares for an HBCU, was inspired by Dr. Foster's desire to promote Historical Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) to young readers, highlight well-known public figures, and educate high school students in preparing for their college transition. Sharlene Novak is a transplanted New Yorker currently living in Texas.

Come meet first time children's book author Kimberly Gail Raghunathan and explore the excitement of an international move through the eyes of a child. 


Kimberly grew up in Northern New Hampshire and has spent most of her life traveling, and studying languages.

Leonie Waithman, author of the YA/middle-reader The King's Chosen historical fantasy series, was born and raised in The Netherlands as the youngest of three girls. She attributed her passion for storytelling to her early years when her father made up stories at bedtime.

Alexander Marriott is the Department Chair of History at Alvin Community College. Marcus Sabom FAN FAVORITE!

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Marcus Sabom always had a love for writing. As an insecure angsty teenager, he wrote bad poetry that will hopefully never see the light of day, because, of course. But as an adult, after stumbling onto the local film scene, his love of writing turned to storytelling, and since then he's written four full length novels, a short story, and even written scripts for short film contests.

C.L. Thomas grew up in Southern New England in the 1970's playing outside every chance he could and has been writing stories since he was a sophomore in high school.


Growing up in East Hartford, one of his favorite games to play was cops and robbers. Little did he know as an adult, first in the United States Army, and later for the city of Houston, he would get to play cops and robbers for real.


On several occasions he would come home from work and tell his wife, "I would have done this for free." For eight years, C.L. was a member of a tactical unit in one of the worst parts of the city. Clancy Weeks is a composer and music educator by training, with over two-dozen published works for wind ensemble and orchestra, but always was an author at heart.


Having read sci-fi and fantasy for over fifty years, his life took a sharp U-turn when he published his first novel, Sleepers, a Sci-Fi thriller. Two other novels and a handful of short stories quickly followed. 


He has lived his entire life in Texas, and currently resides in the Houston area with his amazing wife, Molly, and son, Leo.

E.A. Williams NEW FOR 2024!

E.A. Williams attended the University of North Texas where she channeled her love of storytelling into film and play writing. She was the only female writer selected for UNT’s 2014 playwriter’s showcase.


While completing her film degree she also helped run a bi-monthly writer’s collective aimed at community engagement in the arts and stretched her creative limits by studying special effects makeup.


After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in film, she works as a makeup artist in both film and photography, and is now the author of the line of Tepes supernatural thriller series.


Born and raised in Houston, where she now lives with her dog, Williams is inspired by the diverse and challenging landscape of her home state.

Edward White

Edward White is a man of many interests and experience. He is an Air Force veteran, a retired US Postal Inspector (Federal Agent), a martial artist (black belt), a musician (piano), and a writer.


His novels, all based in and around the Houston area, include Chances Are, Bolivar Ferry, and The Spectre fantasy trilogy.


A University of Missouri, St. Louis graduate, Ed moved to Houston, Texas in 1987. Ed now resides with his wife, Kimberly, in northwest Houston.

Raul Herrera NEW FOR 2024!

Raul Herrera and the Swift Boat crew he served with during the Vietnam War were personally congratulated and awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Medal by Premier Nguyễn Cao Kỳ and Chief of State Nguyễn Văn Thiệu for the capture of a North Vietnamese resupply trawler on July 15, 1967. The crew's heroic action kept more than 90 tons of ammunition and supplies from the awaiting Viet Cong.

Col. Chris Pike NEW FOR 2024!

Chris Pike grew up in Connecticut. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988 and served as an active duty officer for 24 years, leading Airmen in a variety of missions and programs, primarily transportation and logistics. He retired in 2012 at the rank of colonel after 13 assignments to 9 states and 3 foreign countries, as well as short-term deployments to the Gulf War (1991) and Iraq (2006).


His first book, Leading to Win, starts from the premise that the key to great leadership is knowing how to assign the right people to the right task. Chris shares moments throughout his military career when he learned important lessons that shaped his thinking about leadership, and defines a set of supporting principles that will enable readers to develop this talent. The end result is a model that can guide any leader in any organization down the path to mission accomplishment.


In addition to a BS from the Air Force Academy, Chris holds 4 masters degrees, including the Air Command and Staff College and National War College. He is an avid reader and traveler, with a lifelong passion for history. Leading to Win is the first of what he hopes will be several publications.


Chris and his wife Libby for over 25 years currently reside in The Woodland. They are proud parents of a daughter and a son, both of whom are full-time college students.
