Romney: A Reckoning By McKay Coppins
Interesting read. Vulnerability is not something that politicians generally wear on their sleeves, or in their hearts. Romney’s book bucks that trend. It showcases a very smart man who has at times been the poster boy for standing up for what’s right.
At other times he seems to have made decisions that were best for him as opposed to best for the Country. In preparing to write the book, McKay had over 40 one-on-one meetings over a two-year span with Romney. Through his research, the book covers a broad swath of Romney’s service-filled life ranging from family, business, politics, and power.
Most people take pause in their later years and are introspective related to the Why. It’s not as much about what they did and didn’t do but they deeply consider the motivations behind their actions. That’s what made this book an important read for those interested in history, leadership, as well as motivations around decision-making.
