PEER-TO-PEER FUNDRAISER

NOV. 2025

For 20 years, Gateway Center has been at the heart of Atlanta’s efforts to end homelessness, helping individuals move from crisis to stability through real solutions and compassionate care. Each night, Gateway Center provides 485 beds of short-term residential services for men seeking safety, warmth, and hope within our walls.

Your contribution ensures that Gateway Center can continue its mission of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in our city. As the temperature drops, our shared responsibility rises — to make sure every person in our community experiences warmth, dignity, and care this winter.

Why Your Support Matters

As temperatures drop, Gateway Center serves as the primary hub for the City of Atlanta’s emergency Winter Warming Services. On freezing nights, more than 100 individuals seek safety and shelter at our facility. Throughout the winter season, Gateway Center provides over 3,000 encounters, reflecting multiple instances of service for guests who return for warmth and care on multiple nights.

Our team coordinates with the City of Atlanta to ensure that those in need can:

  • Possibly stay in our low-barrier Evolution Center shelter program,
  • Find refuge in our Emergency Warming Shelter (open to men and women), or
  • Be transported to one of the City’s activated Warming Centers.

Unlike the city’s policy to activate warming centers at 32°F, Gateway Center activates at 40°F, recognizing that even at 40°, exposure to cold and wind can cause hypothermia.

The Cost of Compassion

Operating these life-saving services requires significant resources:

  • Evolution Center Program: $650,000 annually
  • Winter Warming Shelter Services: $3,000 per day, totaling approximately $210,000 each winter season

With temperatures dropping again and demand for low-barrier shelter increasing, we need your help to keep our doors open and our guests safe.

How You Can Help

Today, we invite you to Give Warmth.

Our goal with this campaign is to raise $500,000. Every contribution directly supports the cost of keeping our low-barrier shelter and Emergency Warming Center open, our guests safe, and ultimately — saving lives.
