Help Choose The 2026 Wellesley Parade Balloon

We Need You! On May 17, 2026, the Town of Wellesley will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America's founding.

We have five exciting options for a parade balloon in the 2026 Wellesley Veterans Parade and the Wellesley Celebrations Committee and Friends of Wellesley Veterans can't decide which one to choose.

That's where you come in! We're inviting Wellesley residents to vote for their favorite!

Option #1: Patriotic Heart

The 16' high heart will make a big statement coming down Washington Street and requires a minimum of six handlers.

For this option, our parade balloon provider will be with us during the day with on-site training instructions. Given last year's success, these experts are confident that the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team is up for the challenge.

Optiion #2: Patriotic Hat

Red, White and Blue Patriotic Hat is 12' and needs a minimum of six handlers.

Even with its large size -- three times bigger than last year's balloons -- our expert advisors are confident that the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team will successfully handle the big balloon if chosen by our Wellesley residents.

Option #3: Liberty Bell

Liberty Bell, 22' high, requires a minimum of 10 handlers. Its large size will require the balloon to sometimes become horizontal as it makes it way down Washington Street. A tricky maneuver requiring skill, our parade balloon vendor knows that the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team can handle it.

For this balloon, our parade balloon provider will be with us on-site during the day with training instructions.

Option #4: Three Stars - Red, White and Blue

Three stars will each require 4 handlers.

Twice as large as last year's balloons, our parade balloon provider is confident that the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team can handle these big balloons.

Option #5: Flag

The flag requires 12 handlers and will be horizontal at times during the parade route.

For this balloon, our parade balloon vendor will be with us during the day with on-site training instructions. Again, given last years success, they are confident that the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team will navigate the balloon down Washington Street for the 2-mile parade route.

Now we need your help to make our BIG choice.

You have seen the five options for the 2026 Parade Balloon.

Last year’s parade balloons were a huge hit, and our parade title sponsor —the Wellesley Country Club—has generously agreed to make it possible again.

Once again, the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team has volunteered to guide the balloons safely down the parade route, avoiding trees and traffic lights along the way. And, our Wellesley police will oversee us all! (The parade “field” is nearly two miles long down Washington Street from the Community Center to the Grove Street Post Office!)

All that remains is your vote!

Which of the five balloon choices

should appear in the parade?

The top choice selected by Wellesley residents will be featured!

And there’s more:

If you donate to support this effort, other residents have pledged to join the Wellelsey Country Club to match donations to help us add a SECOND balloon to the parade!

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, thousands of Wellesley residents will join together to honor those veterans who served our country and also recognize those organizations and people who serve our community at the Annual Wellesley Veterans Parade. The day of the parade culminates the Annual Wellesley Wonderful Weekend with a Concert, Picnic and Fireworks. This is the largest town gathering held each year.
