Dear Living Springs Church Family,

Children have such a special place in the heart of God. In Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” We have felt that it is extremely important that we are supporting parents in the training of their children to become disciples of Christ.

Recently, it has been impressed on our hearts to encourage parents to look very closely at what their kids are being taught at school. Many times, there are very ungodly things being taught in school classrooms that are being presented as truth. My wife and I know this as we were both previously public school teachers.

It is important for parents to be actively involved in their children’s schools and finding out what they are learning. Before the Lord, we believe the parent, not the government, is primarily responsible for the training of children. That doesn’t mean that our children can’t be trained in a school setting, but it does mean that we should know what they’re being taught and have a right to vet that.

When our own two children were growing up, they had a variety of educational experiences that included public school and Christian school. As well, Jocelyn homeschooled our kids for a time. Although it was a significant commitment, it was such an important season for us as a family and in the kid’s development.

We have multiple families in our church that currently homeschool. One of those families is Graham and Carla Toth who are elders in our church. Carla is the chair of the upcoming homeschooler’s conference. Please see her comments about the conference below. It is a privilege to come alongside our families to see that our kids are raised to walk in truth and be on fire for Jesus!

God bless you!

Pastor Rob

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 2024 GIVING

There was an announcement by the Department of Finance proposing to extend the 2024 charitable donation deadline to February 28, 2025. This has not been passed by parliament.  In light of the uncertainty around this, LSC will be issuing donation receipts as usual for the 2024 calendar year. These will be issued before February 28, 2025.

LSC will issue an additional, separate donation receipt for January and February of 2025 which you can discuss with your own accountant about how you want to claim on your tax return.

Note: Please ensure we have your current email address, donation receipts will be emailed to you!
