Hopefully by the time you read this newsletter we'll see summer arriving, kicking and screaming, from the gates of our brief and rainy spring. Normally by this time of year we would have opened ventilation in both indoor court buildings, but we're holding off this year for two reasons: (1) nighttime temps have been cooler than normal, and (2) I want to see how long the indoor court temperatures stay stable with the new insulation as the weather changes outside. If it starts getting warm or stuffy in the buildings, we'll certainly open them up. Waiting will give us some good data on how the insulation impacts building temperature, so this will be very valuable to us as we move forward. On that note, please remember to close the doors behind you on 1-3 so the cool temperatures remain in the building on warmer days. We've got a busy summer ahead of us at the club, with a full slate of tournaments and events scheduled for the first time since 2019! We've got something out there for everyone, but be aware that we'll have a handful of weekends that will be busier than usual.
Upcoming events include: June 17-19 USTA 55+ Mixed One Weekend League July 8-10 Willamette Valley Open July 16 (am) Samaritan Health Services Midsummer Smash July 16 (pm) Annual TTC Barbecue July 22-24 USTA Girls Level 4 Tournament August 5-7 USTA Pacific Western Junior Level 6 Tournament August 18-21 Oregon Senior Games
Note that the mid-July weekends will be pretty busy. We'll make courts available to members as we know what the exact schedules for all these events are. Note that the club Barbecue will be on July 16--we're excited to do this one again, and are hoping for a good turnout for tennis, food, and socializing, including honoring of our 2022 TTC Hall of Fame inductees as well as our 2022 JimSam College Scholarship recipients. So save the date and we'll see you there!
The biggest news for June is the long-awaited update of our court bookings system, which will integrate into our existing platform for tennis club account maintenance and online club directory. See tutorials and all the info here, and remember that the old system will no longer be active on June 13.
Lastly, a reminder that starting in July there is a small raise in monthly dues rates. The TTC Bylaws require dues to raise by 5% each year unless the Board votes otherwise, and this year the Board chose to raise dues by only 2%, which will equate to about one to three dollars more per month (depending upon the type of membership) than current dues. We appreciate how much inflation has impacted everyone, and the club is not immune to those rising costs. This dues raise will help TTC offset rising costs, particularly in the areas of utilities, city fees, and maintenance services. Be sure to adjust your automatic payment amounts if you do billpay through your bank, and thanks again for your support of the club! |
