Palm Beach Paddlefest 2021 Cancelled
Another event bites the COVID-19 dust. It was a tough call with much consideration given, but the decision was made by event organizers, the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, this week to cancel what would have been the 6th Annual Palm Beach Paddlefest to take place on February 6, 2021 at Harbourside Place in Jupiter, FL. The decision stems primarily from prioritizing the health and safety of everyone, including participants, guests, and volunteers.
“Many of our participants come from outside of Florida and the country and we didn’t feel it would be right to host this event without everyone having the ability to participate due to COVID-19. We also weren’t entirely sure we could get an approval on an event permit. We did consider a virtual event that people could complete on their own, but what makes Palm Beach Paddlefest so fun is all the interaction and camaraderie that takes place at Harbourside Place. There is an energy that can’t quite be described and that is what makes the event so special,” says MIAPBC Executive Director Alyssa Freeman. She adds, “We want to also thank Blueline Surf & Paddle for invaluable partnership over the past few years and look forward to working with them and Harbourside Place again in 2022.”
The organizers of Palm Beach Paddlefest encourage paddlers to use this year off to train and come back better than ever, ready to place and win custom medals and exciting cash prizes. People can stay up-to-date with the event on the Palm Beach Paddlefest Facebook and Instagram pages. To keep the momentum going, paddlers are encouraged to tag and share their progress, pictures and videos while preparing for the 2022 event.
