Bronx, NY -  "I am deeply disappointed by the Governor's recent comments regarding black youth in the Bronx. As the Chair of Children and Youth Services, I stand for the respect of our communities, youth, and children who often lack a voice. It is unacceptable to portray our children in such a negative light.

Regardless of what elected officials and media often portray of the Bronx, the 1.4 million people of the Bronx know the truth, which is that we are educated, brilliant, and resilient. The truth is that the Bronx has flourished despite not being provided enough resources for our young people and communities. The Bronx community has long fought against misconceptions about our borough, and these comments from the Governor further perpetuate those of black people.

If the Governor believes what she said, then I would like to see her make real financial investments to ensure that all young people in the Bronx and New York State have the resources they need to excel." shared Council Member Althea Stevens.
