Stark Tuscarawas Workforce Development Board’s Business Resource Network (BRN) Highlights Economic Development Partners at Recent Meeting

The Business Resource Network’s (BRN) recent meeting featured local economic development leaders from the Stark Economic Development Board, Tuscarawas Economic Development Corporation, and the City of Canton sharing insights on the types of companies they pursue, what their Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) visits look like, and how they connect businesses to the right programs and services.

The discussion also highlighted the tools and resources available to companies that are expanding—whether by increasing their physical footprint or growing their workforce. Overall, the conversation strengthened our understanding of how we can better align efforts to support business growth across the region.

Recent collaboration with economic development partners has deepened alignment on business‑retention priorities and upcoming work, and will further streamline and modernize employer service delivery across the network.

Xavier's Career Support that Leads to Success with OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties

After being laid off from his position as an Information Technology Specialist, Xavier connected with the RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment) program for support with his job search. During his appointment, the RESEA coordinator reviewed his résumé and suggested updates to better highlight his relevant skills and experience. They also discussed interview strategies, including how to confidently answer common questions like “Tell me about yourself,” and shared resources to help him prepare for future interviews.

Xavier took the advice and began using the resources provided to strengthen his approach. When it came time for his follow-up appointment, he had exciting news—he had secured a new position as a Technical Support Analyst, earning $3 more per hour than his previous role.

With guidance, preparation, and determination, Xavier was able to turn a challenging situation into a new opportunity.
