Teaching in an Always-on World: Understanding Students’ Digital Lives and the Impacts on Learning

Wednesday, September 23

3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Towson University Union Ballrooms

An interactive session for current and future educators to understand and strategically address the complex ways that students’ screen behaviors shape attention, information processing, and well-being, so we can better support thriving learners.

Today’s students have grown up in a world of constant connectivity, from smartphones and social media to streaming content and generative AI. Technology has fundamentally shaped how they communicate, access information, form identity, and engage with learning.

Join us to explore what this reality means for teaching and learning across Pre-K to higher education. Presenters from MPT’s Maryland Center for Media Literacy & Education and Towson University's College of Education will examine key facets of students’ digital lives—influenced by a wide ecosystem of online content, media, and tools—and discuss practical teaching methods educators can incorporate into their practice.
