Why is it called a "bee"?

The Brauntex Regional champion will advance to the

Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Traditionally, the Regional champion would travel to

National Harbor, Maryland for Bee Week in June,

but - due to COVID-19 - things will be different this year.

This year, the preliminaries, quarterfinals, and semifinals will be held virtually in the weeks leading up to the July 8 finals and will be broadcast live on ESPN platforms.

Dates for the preliminary virtual rounds will be announced by Scripps soon.

If The Brauntex Bee Champion advances past the 3 virtual qualifiers,

they will also win...

2 Round Trip tickets (Southwest Airlines) to Florida for the FINAL round at Walt Disney World Resort.

Hotel, and $700 to cover rental car and ancillary expenses during the trip.

Additional tickets are $5 each.

WHAT TO WEAR

We hope your student will represent their school by wearing a spirit shirt.

We do want all students to feel comfortable on the stage, though,

so they should choose something appropriate for themselves.

Parents and teachers are invited to order a Brauntex Bee T-Shirt by clicking here.

We will break for lunch between 11am and 1pm. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of the theatre.

The auditorium seats 600 with seats located on the floor and

in the balcony. We can seat approximately 150 with social distancing.
