A User-Friendly Way for Changemakers to Get Support

I have been fortunate to start and run a handful of successful nonprofit organizations. Now I want to ensure that the next generations of visionaries and changemakers have the support they need.

My name is James Reber. I have worked in the nonprofit sector for decades and I am launching a new nonprofit organization that may be of interest to you and to people you know.

Please allow me to introduce you to Silicon Valley Umbrella Project, a unique new nonprofit that helps to support the change-makers and dreamers and dedicated neighbors who want to do something good for our community - but don't want to wait or wade through red tape.

Silicon Valley Umbrella Project helps individuals, as well as groups large and small, to take action, launch a project, form a neighborhood improvement group or do anything that makes our community better. We work in three key areas:

1. Support For Nonprofit Startups

Whether you are a group with a great idea or a lone visionary trying to create a new non-profit, starting up is difficult. Fiscal

Sponsorship will enable you to raise money immediately and get going while you put things together for the long term. Use the

vision you have to start up with creative energy. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project is here to help you.

2. Support For Short-Term Actions & Projects

Maybe you are part of a volunteer group or a neighborhood that does clean up at a local park or an annual fund drive to support

those in need. Whatever the cause, you have more clout with a Fiscal Sponsor. You’ll be eligible for grants from a variety of

sources and you can do more without becoming a huge organization. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project will help you succeed.

3. Support For Community Responses

Floods, fires, earthquakes and a variety of natural disasters often occur without warning and require a strong and timely community

response. Besides natural disasters, there are community tragedies and disruptions that require a similar call to action.

Putting together the people who want to help with the appropriate organizations that are addressing the crisis is an essential role

that Silicon Valley Umbrella Project embraces, especially rally when a quick response is needed.

We live in a community with many creative minds and generous hearts, but often those are stifled by process and bureaucratic blocks. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project is part of a national movement to encourage people and groups to take action by providing a way for them to raise funds, receive grants, and - most importantly - to act quickly, while people are enthusiastic.

Creating and maintaining a nonprofit organization is a lot of work and requires constant attention and fundraising. It often takes a year of filing and follow-up just to become IRS-certified. Fiscal Sponsorship is a way for beginning organizations to be able to start raising funds and doing work immediately; for ongoing community projects, such as annual events or charitable activities, to keep moving. Fiscal Sponsorship is a great way to consolidate effort, to be more efficient and more effective.

Below, there are links to information about Silicon Valley Umbrella Project. Please take a few minutes and look and learn about what we are doing. You may very well be someone who has an idea for a program (like neighborhood clean-up, community gardening, or child safety) or you may know someone with a dream to do a community project. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project can provide Fiscal Sponsorship (legal status) to enable you to raise funds, receive grants or obtain permits.
