2024 Capital Project Highlights

We want to thank our tremendous community for their support, patience, and understanding while we worked to improve our sewer, water, parks, and recreation infrastructure.

From rebuilding safer and smoother trails to ensuring a reliable water supply for Tahoe’s West Shore, TCPUD wrapped up the busy 2024 construction season working to build a healthy mountain community.

West Lake Tahoe Regional Water Treatment Plant

More than 10 years in the making, the $30 Million West Lake Tahoe Regional Water Treatment Plant took significant steps toward completion in 2024. In early November, we installed brand new water pumps in Lake Tahoe to bring delicious Tahoe Tap to the West Shore. The treatment plant, which begins delivering water in 2025, will help provide fire suppression capacity and a drought-resistant water source to our community.

North Shore Trail Reconstruction

Our much anticipated North Shore Trail Reconstruction project rebuilt more than two miles of trail with 42,000 square feet of new pavement, more than 125 new safety features, and a new retaining wall to make the trail smoother and safer for all.

TCPUD, with funding support from North Tahoe Community Alliance and Placer County, invested more than $3.2 Million to upgrade this community treasure.

Emergency Sewer Bypass Installations

These emergency sewer bypass ports are a critical component to prevent sewage spills and protect Lake Tahoe in the event of a sewer pump station or force main failure.

By investing more than $2.1 Million in these bypass ports, we help keep wastewater flowing and keep our community safe.

Sixth Ave Sewer Line Replacement

This project, which began in August 2024, invested $939,000 to replace and install more than 1,700 feet of aging and failing sewer mains and laterals in Tahoma.

Replacing these sewer lines helps protect public health and our environment to provide reliable sewer service for years to come.

Queenie Dunn Golf Practice Facility

The new Queenie Dunn Practice Facility is a revitalized short-game practice area featuring a new putting green, sand bunker, and turf areas. The facility is named in honor of May "Queenie" Dunn, the first female golf course designer and golf professional. In 1918, Queenie designed and supervised the layout of the Tahoe Tavern Golf Course, which is now the Tahoe City Golf Course, and served as its resident golf pro and manager.

This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Northern California Golf Association, the Tahoe City Recreation Association, the Patty Sheehan Foundation, the Scoville Family, Tim Longo, and Matt Daniels.

Stay Tuned for 2025 Projects

TCPUD will invest approximately $26 Million in capital construction projects in 2025 including phased construction of the Madden Creek and Tahoe Cedars Water System Distribution System replacement, sewage pump storage improvements, and reconstruction of segments of the West Shore Trail.

Stay tuned as we share project details in the coming months!
