Southwest Automotive Technology Instructor Doug Partington has been recognized as the Memphis winner of Bosch Mobility Aftermarket's inaugural We Spark Performance, You Spark Change Initiative. This award honors educators who make a lasting difference in the lives and careers of their students.

The recognition was presented during Southwest's Legislative Day, where educators, elected officials, and community leaders gathered to discuss workforce development and the future of technical education in West Tennessee.

Presenting the award on behalf of Bosch Mobility Aftermarket, Jen Huggins, Senior Product Marketing Manager, said the program was created to recognize instructors who go beyond teaching technical skills.

"At Bosch, we believe that the future of the automotive industry depends on the skilled professionals who will innovate, service and drive it forward," Huggins said. "And that future begins in classrooms and workshops guided by exceptional educators."

The We Spark Performance, You Spark Change Initiative celebrates educators who inspire growth, build confidence and create opportunities for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades. Huggins noted that Partington stood out among the nominees because of his unwavering commitment to student success.

"When we reviewed the nominations, Doug Partington's story stood out in a truly profound way," Huggins said. "The heartfelt words from his colleagues painted a clear picture of an educator who exemplifies the spirit of this award."

According to Bosch, Partington is known for meeting students where they are, helping them develop not only technical expertise but also the professional confidence needed to succeed in the workforce. He continually updates classroom instruction to reflect current industry standards and maintains strong partnerships with local dealerships and repair facilities, helping connect students directly to career opportunities.

"Doug is someone who believes that every student can be a success story," Huggins said. "He doesn't just hand his students a certificate; he helps them build a future."

As the first Memphis recipient of the award, Partington received a $1,000 honorarium from Bosch. Huggins said his efforts are helping strengthen both the local community and the automotive industry.

"For your unwavering passion and your profound impact on the next generation, we are incredibly proud to recognize you," she said.

The recognition highlights Southwest's ongoing commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers while developing the workforce needed to support the region's economic growth.
