This gateway to sub-Saharan Africa is a country of rich diversity and warm hospitality mixing centuries-old tradition with a firm view of the future. We will begin in Marrakech and explore the labyrinth medinas, excellent restaurants, and visits with local artisans. We will be dazzled by the snake charmers as we imbibe the ubiquitous fresh-pressed mint tea and take in everyday life in this bustling city. From Marrakech will be driven to the nearby Stone Desert to sleep in gorgeously designed desert tents. We will take in the expansive night sky, enjoy camel trekking, and a yoga practice overlooking the expansive dunes. Finally, we head to the Atlas Mountains, North Africa’s highest mountain range, where we will stay in an exquisite Kasbah surrounded by green fields and groves of olives while gazing at the nearby snowy mountain peaks. Our retreat will be led by an expert guide to ensure we experience a unique vantage point of this incredible country.

Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco—a place where ancient traditions and vibrant daily life intertwine. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a private driver and transferred to your boutique riad, a traditional Moroccan home centered around a peaceful courtyard, tucked within the winding alleys of the medina. After time to settle in, we’ll gather for a welcome orientation and share a cup of mint tea—a symbol of Moroccan hospitality and connection. Your first rooftop yoga practice overlooks the city, with the Atlas Mountains in the distance, followed by a welcome dinner featuring classic Moroccan flavors in an intimate setting.

Day 2: Explore Marrakech

Begin with morning yoga and breakfast before stepping into the sensory richness of the medina—one of the oldest and most dynamic marketplaces in the world. With your guide, wander through souks filled with spices, textiles, ceramics, and handwoven goods, each reflecting generations of artisanal tradition. Lunch today is on your own, offering the opportunity to explore local flavors at your own pace (we’ll provide curated recommendations). In the afternoon, deepen your understanding of Moroccan craftsmanship—where techniques are passed down through families, and each piece carries cultural meaning. Return to the riad to rest, enjoy a hammam, or continue exploring. Evening and dinner are at your leisure.

Day 3: Yves Saint Laurent Museum

After yoga and breakfast, we’ll travel by horse-drawn carriage—a timeless mode of transport in Marrakech—to the iconic Jardin Majorelle. This lush botanical garden reflects a blend of French artistic vision and Moroccan landscape design, later restored by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. We’ll then walk to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, where fashion, history, and Moroccan influence intersect. The afternoon is open for independent exploration or rest, with optional guidance available. Evening yoga invites you to integrate the day’s experiences before a relaxed night at your own pace.

Day 4: Traditional Berber Cooking Class

Enjoy a slow morning with yoga and breakfast before a free day to experience Marrakech in your own rhythm—whether that’s getting lost in the medina, connecting with local artisans, or simply resting. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a traditional Berber cooking class. Moroccan cuisine is deeply rooted in community and ritual, and this hands-on experience offers insight into the flavors, spices, and techniques that define it. The evening concludes with a shared meal of the dishes you’ve prepared together.

Day 5: Marrakech → Agafay Desert

Today we journey beyond the city into the Agafay Desert—a stark and beautiful landscape often called the “stone desert.” Though not sandy like the Sahara, its quiet vastness offers a profound sense of stillness. After settling into our luxury camp and enjoying lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore. Optional activities like camel or horseback riding offer a glimpse into traditional modes of desert travel. As the sun begins to set, gather for yoga surrounded by open sky and silence. Dinner is served under the stars, echoing the nomadic traditions of desert life.
