St. Joseph's Community Health Programs

St. Joseph's Medical Center (SJMC) is delighted to continue its commitment to providing community health education and programs, nearly all at no cost, to residents of San Joaquin. 


With your support, the SJMC Community Health Department looks forward to expanding its network of referral partners to increase health literacy and improve health education in the community. Please take a moment to learn more about each of the following programs, and refer your patients/clients and family/friends for assistance in their health and wellness journeys.

Doctor Up Your Meals (DUYM)

We all know how important it is to eat nutritious meals, and that is especially true when trying to manage or prevent disease. 


Join us for live cooking demonstrations and a sampling of easy recipes to help you improve your nutrition and your health. Click the button below for all of the details.

DEEP: Diabetes Empowerment Education Program

An interactive 6 week, 2 hour per week group workshop for diabetes prevention and self-management education.


Available in Spanish and also available on location! Have a group ready to learn? Our instructor will come to you.

Power Hour + Support Group

A monthly 1 hour, in-person workshop to provide new skills to those with new challenges in their journey with prediabetes or diabetes.


New topics monthly, come to one or attend them all. Seating is limited, registration is required. Sugar Fix Peer Support Group meets immediately after.

Trauma Informed Systems (TIS)

TIS training is available to any organization seeking to be a healers by training staff to be more trauma-informed and responsive.


Training is ideal for businesses, service providers, educators and others serving San Joaquin County residents.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

A training for those that work directly with adults or youth, or for any community member seeking to learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders.

Youth Overcoming Life’s Obstacles (YOLO) Group

A weekly, eight week class series for teens ages 14-17 to learn healthy coping skills to help overcome stressful events and life experiences of the current times and of teenage years. Available online or in person.

Mental Wellness Tips and Tricks

This one-hour workshop provides basic understanding of the most common mental health diagnoses to help individuals improve their own mental wellbeing and to help them learn how to support others as well.  



This workshop is available on location for groups of ten people or more.





Online Health Library

Visit this resource of credible health information as often as you'd like for education in both English and Spanish. This website covers a range of topics and is available to anyone seeking health education in easy to understand formats.
