| Is your child silly, quick on their feet, and has the spark of imagination that makes everyone around them laugh? If so, they are a perfect fit for St. Matthias's Improv Theater Club.
Improv Theater has a rich history in the Chicago performance arts scene, having produced comedians and actors such as Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Mike Meyers, and Bill Murray. At St. Matthias, we will develop the same skills these actors have used, such as teamwork, storytelling, active listening, and adopting the famous "yes, and!" mentality.
Different from regular theater classes, improv focuses less on memorizing lines and is more about thinking on your feet creatively, proactively and strategically - all great life skills to develop. This is more than just theater; it’s an enriching experience that nurtures vital life skills, empowering your children to communicate confidently, express themselves freely, and grow personally and socially in a dynamic, engaging setting!
Ages: 1st - 3rd grades Class Location: St. Matthias Elementary School, 4910 N. Claremont Ave. Session dates: March 26 - May 28 Days and Time: Wednesdays 2:00 - 2:45 Tuition: $190
A minimum of 5 students is needed to run each class. Classes will be limited to 15 children. Additional classes are available based on interest. Make-ups are not available for group classes. Students are expected to follow instructions from the teacher and be respectful at all times. Should discipline be an issue we will first reach out to parents. If a problem continues we may regretfully ask students to forfeit the remainder of the session to ensure quality of instruction for all students.
About our instructor: Alex Rembold is an alumni of the iO Theater, and is a music director for improv shows at Second City, the iO, and the Annoyance Theater. He has worked with teams of all ages, and has produced shows ranging from silly to sentimental. Whether you're child has dreams of being on stage with "Who's Line is it Anyway?", or is eager to develop the skills that will serve them in their everyday life, Improv Club is the perfect choice for them. |
