Strengthening Wisconsin Farmers Markets |
The Southeast Wisconsin Farmers Market Collaborative, founded through a generous grant from the University of Wisconsin Madison Extension, aims to strengthen local communities by supporting agricultural initiatives and promoting healthy living. The University of Wisconsin Extension, a champion of community development, was awarded this grant from the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program. This grant empowered the Collaborative to gather valuable data, improve market experiences, and boost local agricultural product sales. The Market Managers of the Southeast WI Farmers Market Collaborative are working together to accomplish these goals regionally through our promotional efforts, the Taste It Tent initiative, and the Market Perks Program. |

We are excited to report Taste It Tents are popping up all over Wisconsin. As part of a USDA grant we have been able to create materials so that market managers can add tents for little start up costs. Visitors can sample an array of fresh fruits and vegetables, discover creative ways to incorporate them into their daily meals, and learn about the benefits of a wholesome diet. By encouraging more people to visit the markets, we not only support our hardworking farmers but also foster education and health within our communities. Below you will find our How To Taste it Tent video. You will also find a link for the essential items needed and our How-To Guide to start your own Taste It Tent.
As we talk around the country about the benefits the Taste It Tent offers, and the wide range of ideas on how you can start one, we would love to hear from you. Please email with questions and send us your ideas. Explore the bounty of locally grown produce, connect with passionate farmers, and experience the joy of providing the community this type of experience. |
