At the onset of the pandemic, Soup Sisters recognized it needed to alter its delivery model to help support those experiencing food insecurity. The result: Soup Sisters has now positioned itself as Canada’s first Soup Bank.

Our recipes are currently being produced at a certified FOODSAFE commercial facility and delivered Nationwide every month by VersaCold transport.

Since the onset of the pandemic with the generous support of VersaCold and their dedicated drivers we have been able to deliver over 200,000 lbs of fresh soup to more than 40 agencies nationwide each month.

Our mandate is to impact food inequity and food insecurity in support of frontline health workers, domestic violence emergency shelters, marginalized seniors, transitional housing for homeless, First Nations, youth in crisis, centres for drug addiction and mental health, and Food Banks.

The agencies we support with our delicious ready to eat, heat and serve soup tell us that the value of our support has a positive impact on the physical and mental health

of their clients.

They appreciate it has been developed specifically for them and, most importantly, that the donation is not random, thereby resulting in minimal waste.

This pandemic reinforces the critical need for healthy food... food that saves lives, one 'hug in a bowl' at a time. You can be part of the solution.

Heartfelt appreciation for your monthly delivery of 20 cases of family pack soups for our family violence shelter program.

Manitoba shelters have been overwhelmed with increasing demands for support and increasing operational costs. Funding for those in the Family Violence Prevention Program has been stagnant for almost 20 years.

Your very kind and generous support with soup deliveries each month is beyond precious to us.

The majority of young people at The Doorway are food insecure.

Soup Sisters freezer full of soup gives our young people the security of knowing there is always a big, hearty, healthy meal for them.

They are very grateful for the food hampers they receive from other services, but food hampers often lack nutrients and can’t meet food preferences and dietary needs. Soup Sisters ensures their soups are loaded with vegetables and protein. It fills their hearts and their bellies.

We wanted to share with you the gratitude of the community when we serve Soup Sisters soup. There are times when a person comes in shaking and hungry from withdrawal and the effects of homelessness.

They are so grateful to receive soup and bannock and are invited to have seconds. It starts with the drum calling them in, the soup and bannock bring them back, the traditional medicines help them stay and the relationships help the healing. .
