About: At California Connect, with the Deaf and Disabled Telecommunication Program (DDTP), is funded by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the program’s goal is to make it easier for every Californian with speech, hearing, vision, mobility, or cognitive disabilities to connect with the world around them in a way that is comfortable and convenient for them. The program’s accessible products and services are available at no cost, removing financial barriers. We believe that equal access to communication is not a privilege, but a right.

Together, we’ll talk about coping strategies, emotional wellness, and resources that can help make daily life a little easier. Whether you’re newly adjusting or have been living with vision loss for years, this group is here for you.

Description: Join our popular peer-to-peer information series to learn helpful strategies to make life easier as someone with a visual impairment. Each month, the group will explore an in-depth how to topic, such as tips for accessible cooking, organizing your home, traveling, and using smarthome devices. Topic: Join us engaging discussion on how AI can make everyday life easier for people with visual impairments. This month, we’ll explore different AI tools and how to choose the right one for different needs, including getting information, identifying items or money, checking prices, and more. We’ll also discuss how to interact with AI through back-and-forth conversations, as well as important considerations for protecting your personal information and staying safe. You don’t need any previous experience with AI to participate! Whether you already use AI regularly or are simply curious and want to learn what it can do, come listen, ask questions, and discover ways AI may be useful in your daily life.

Description: Love stories, lively conversations, and exploring new ideas? Join us for our Monthly Book Club, where we come together to share in the joy of reading. Each month, we select a book that sparks discussion, reflection, and sometimes even a little friendly debate.

In addition, Vista offers a Social Connexus Buddy, a peer who can walk alongside you on your journey, providing encouragement, connection, and support as you navigate vision changes. You don’t have to walk this path alone, a Buddy is here to help.
