Course: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Wednesday, 8:00-12:00 Thursday

Exam: 1:00-3:00pm Thursday

The modules listed below make up the 30 hours of course work required for the Fundamentals certification.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF SKILLS - (5 HOURS)

CONFLICT - (3 HOURS)

COURTESY AND RESPECT - (1 HOUR)

HUMAN BEHAVIOR - (3 HOURS)

HUMAN DIVERSITY AND CULTURE - (3 HOURS)

DEALING WITH PERSONS WITH SPECIAL CONCERNS - (1 HOUR)

SUBSTANCE ABUSE - (1 HOUR)

OFFICER SURVIVAL CONSIDERATIONS - (4 HOURS)

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER ISSUES - (1 HOUR)

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS/SITUATIONS AND INCIDENT COMMAND - (1 HOUR)

DEFENSIVE TACTICS - (4 HOURS)

Certificates are awarded upon completion of 30 class hours AND passing score of 70% of the Certification Exam.

Additional Information

REGISTRATION: You will be registering and paying for the class and the exam at the same time. AFTER you complete payments, you will receive a receipt and registration confirmation email. Registrations are confirmed only after payment is received. Registration will close Sept. 5, 2026 or when the class is filled. If you are unable to pay by credit card and need an invoice to pay by check, email btibbett@usf.edu to request an invoice.

Non-member Registration: If you are not a FACE member, contact btibbett@usf.edu for separate registration and payment.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION: You will receive a confirmation email and payment receipt upon registration and payment of CLASS & EXAM fees. You are not registered in the class until payment is completed.

REFRESHMENTS: Coffee will be provided in the morning but refreshments and all meals are on your own each day. There is no guarantee of microwave or refrigerator availability on site.

NON-PAYMENT: No person may attend FACE training or take an exam if approved payment has not been made prior to the registration deadline.

REFUNDS: Must be requested in writing and received no later than the registration and payment deadline of Jan. 5, 2026. Fees will be refunded less a $75 administrative charge. All monies are forfeited beyond this date. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal or refund request.
