A Month of Culture, Connection, and Economic Impact

This September, join ASJ in celebrating Honduran Independence Day through a month-long awareness and fundraising campaign centered on one simple idea: sharing a meal can help change lives.

On and around September 15, we invite you to experience Honduran culture in your own community by visiting a Honduran-owned restaurant, bakery, coffee shop, or small business. As you do, you’ll also learn about the economic realities facing many families in Honduras—and how sustainable development can create long-term opportunity.

Together, we can turn one meal into a lasting impact.

How It Works

1. Dine for Honduras

Visit a Honduran-owned business in your area during September.

If none are nearby, support another Central American-owned business.

Take the opportunity to learn something new about Honduras—and share it with friends or family.

2. Turn Your Meal Into Monthly Impact

After your visit, pledge the price of your meal as a recurring monthly gift to ASJ.

Prefer a different amount? Choose a monthly gift that feels meaningful and sustainable for you.

Your ongoing support becomes an investment in long-term economic opportunity, entrepreneurship, and community development in Honduras.

A group of donors will match new or increased monthly gifts for a full year, multiplying your impact.

3. Share the Experience

Make your meal part of a larger story.

  • Bring friends or family
  • Take a photo during your visit
  • Share on social media and tag ASJ or email Brian about your experience at Brian@asj-us.org. (Help us grow our Honduras business directory by telling us which business you supported)

Why this Matters

Roughly 30% of Honduras’ economy is tied to remittances sent home by Hondurans living abroad. These contributions are vital for families—but they are not a substitute for long-term economic opportunity.

ASJ works alongside local communities, businesses, and government partners in Honduras to strengthen economic systems, support entrepreneurs, and expand job opportunities where people live and work.

This campaign highlights that connection: when we invest in sustainable development, we help create conditions where families can thrive without having to leave their communities behind.

When you dine for Honduras, you support:

  • Hondurans in the United States working to provide for their families
  • Families and entrepreneurs in Honduras building local opportunity
  • Long-term economic transformation through ASJ’s work

About ASJ

Your donation goes towards furthering the mission of ASJ in Honduras, and we are so grateful for it! Years ago, a team of North Americans and Honduras found that they shared a collective vision of justice for those living in vulnerable conditions. After years of working in development, they realized their efforts were not enough because the systems of government did not respect the needs and rights of everyone. We had one question: how can the systems of health, education, and security transform to support a country where everyone can flourish and experience justice? We knew this journey would be costly and full of challenges, but out of our faith, we found the call to “do justice” and be brave in seeking belonging for all. This work requires action from partners across the country. Join us for this event to learn more and raise support for the work in Honduras.
