DHL Express Workers Begin Strike At Cincinnati Air Hub

12/12/2023

Over 1,100 ramp workers at DHL Express' air hub in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport went on strike to protest stalled contract talks. The workers, responsible for loading and unloading aircraft, are represented by the Teamsters union, which is advocating for better wages, improved safety conditions, and an end to alleged anti-union activities. The union claims DHL bosses are profiting significantly while many workers struggle financially. Contract negotiations started in July, and the National Labor Relations Board is involved in addressing alleged illegal anti-union actions by DHL. The strike, occurring during the peak shipping season, prompted DHL to take measures to maintain service levels, including bringing in extra staff and diverting cargo to other airports. DHL expressed a willingness to resume negotiations in January, but the walkout may lead to delivery delays for some customers.
