Rich Moment: Mindy Williams Wins National Recruiter of the Year Award

Named after Woodfords' Founders, Alan & Katrina Rich, Rich Moments celebrate the dedication of our staff to the agency's mission, and the successes, big and small, of the individuals with whom we work.

You can ask anyone at Woodfords who knows Mindy and they will tell you, Mindy Williams was born to be a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter. Her intense passion, dedication, and commitment to the children on her caseload and the implementation of the Child-Focused Recruitment Model goes far beyond your average day job. For nine years, Mindy has worked with Maine’s longest waiting children in foster care, helping them to process their unique experiences, understand their options, advocate on their behalf, and find them loving permanent homes that serve the best interest of the child and family. Mindy stands behind the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Child-Focus Recruitment Model whole heartedly and works tirelessly to advocate for what is best for the child and what the child wants even when other entities disagree or do not want to listen. Mindy is an incredible advocate, role model, recruiter, social worker, friend, and so much more to the children and families she serves. We are so proud of your accomplishments Mindy and want to congratulate you on the exceptional achievement of being named one of the National 2022 Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter of the Year Awards. Happy Foster Care Awareness Month and thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our mission Mindy!

May is Foster Care Awareness Month

Nationally, May is Foster Care Awareness Month but at Woodfords, it is Foster Parent Appreciation Month. The entire Foster Care team would like to thank our amazing foster parents for the hard work they do every day. You show compassion, commitment and care. You make a difference in your foster children’s lives. You offer a child support and stability when they need it most and some of you provide this for a child’s lifetime.

Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month

Each April, we recognize Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and celebrate the many individuals in our community with autism. Again this year, the agency sponsored the Autism Society of Maine’s 20th Annual Autism Walk and was excited to have a booth at the Westbrook event and see so many familiar faces. Pictured left to right: former Executive Director, Dick Farnsworth, Board Member Robert Fairbrother, and Recruitment Coordinator Lauren Archambault in front of the Woodfords booth.

Teachers, We Appreciate You!

Each year we celebrate teacher appreciation week by recognizing our nearly 130 dedicated educators for their contributions to our students learning and development. From ‘Nacho Average Teacher’ nacho buffets, to punny curated gift baskets, we like to roll out the red carpet in celebration of these amazing staff. Thank you all for your hard work and commitment to Maine’s youngest learners with special needs!
