Why This Toolkit Matters Before You Begin - And The One Practice You Can Implement Today.

Because restorative transformation takes time—and this toolkit gives you the foundation to begin thoughtfully, clearly, and with integrity. Moving from theories about equity and restoration into actual practice requires 1–3 year plans, steady implementation, and weekly habits that acknowledge, respond, and ultimately re-empower.

Rooted in lived experience at the nonprofit and organizational level, this guide responds directly to what leaders should do when contradiction or hypocrisy undermines trust and harms culture.

Among other key foundational practice suggestions as you embark, the toolkit includes a Workplace Acknowledgment Process—offered as both an anonymous survey instrument and a cross-organizational circle format—so your team can safely name what’s true, begin repair, and chart a restorative path forward. You cannot move past the unacknowledged harms and expect to implement "restorative" overnight.

$995- Institutional Steward plus License

For Universities, Institutes, Agencies using the toolkit across teams, departments, or leadership staff and supporting future publications and research. Express Checkout includes Pay Later, Visa, Amex, MC, Discover, Debit options.

Build a Workplace Rooted in Relationship, Accountability, and Repair

For over a decade, Restorative Justice on The Rise has convened global practitioners, educators, leaders, and communities to support the healing-centered transformation of conflict, culture, and systems.

The Restorative Workplace Transformation Toolkit brings together years of lived practice, facilitation, restorative system design, and trauma-responsive insight into a single, comprehensive, ready-to-implement framework. It was first initiated five years ago, after the author heard numerous stories across the RJ and related social justice non-profit arenas of disturbing contrasts between what those orgs were offering, and what they were doing on the inside. We began hosting trainings and providing presentations on the need for, especially, social justice orgs to bridge the gap between outer-facing practices, and inside--and the enthusiasm and response has been huge. We know from our own lived experience that often it is the service orgs that need the most help in doing for their own, what they do for others. What we have learned from these stories, and from our own experiences, inspired this work.

This toolkit is our version of everything a workplace needs to begin transforming culture from punitive to restorative, from reactive to relational, and from transactional to human-centered.

This is for:

  • Organizations seeking to implement restorative and relational practices
  • Leaders wanting a trauma-responsive, human needs-centered framework

Why This Toolkit Is Different

Most workplace “restorative” materials are:

  • superficial
  • punitive with restorative language
  • lacking trauma-responsive foundations
  • overly academic
  • divorced from lived practice
  • expensive and inaccessible

This toolkit is the opposite:

✔ Grounded in lived experience, practice, and community lineage

✔ Trauma-responsive and informed by human needs

✔ Rooted in relational systems, not punitive logic

✔ Accessible, practical, and ready to use

✔ Inclusive of real tools, not just theory

✔ Designed for actual implementation

✔ Community-supported (not grant-funded)

It is the first release aligned with the emerging Grassroots Restorative Justice Initiative (GRJI), a project co-founded by RJOTR.
