Certification Program Overview

The Work Truck Industry Welder Certification program is a customized version of the nationally recognized LEEPS program developed in partnership by NC3 and Lincoln Electric. This program will offer employees of participating companies a suite of welding certifications.

LEEPS for NTEA GMAW Train-the-Trainer:

• Welding Safety
• Principles of Welding
• Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW): Carbon Steel
• Online Resources and Assessments
• Welding Techniques in 1G/2G/2F/3F/4F

Training Requirements

In order to be a member of the LEEPS for NTEA Program, your organization must complete the below requirements:

• Companies must maintain yearly NC3 Membership ($5,000/year)

Companies must designate a Work Truck Industry Welder Certification program certified trainer with the following minimum requirements:

• Ability to weld at 3F/3G position (vertical)
• Proficient in GMAW (gas metal arc welding/MIG)
• Basic computer skills including emailing, saving files, & browser navigation
• Has laptop or Chromebook

Companies must have their chosen certified trainer attend Teir 1 training:

• NTEA memeber: $695 plus travel expenses
• NTEA non-member: $1,095 plus travel expenses

Provide all necessary equipment in good working condition for trainees, including but not limited to:

• Welding equipment capable of executing short arc, spray. and pulse welds
• Tools (wire brush / chipping hammer / pliers / wire cutters / angle grinders or sander)
• Carbon steel metal
• Contact tips (.035 and .045)
• Cooling tanks
• PPE: Steel-toe boots, welding helmet, welding hat, welding jacket, safety glasses, gloves

Additional Information

Equipment: Please bring your own laptop/Chromebook and PPE (specifics listed above).

Shuttle: A shuttle will transport attendees between hotel and training facility

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to participants each day of their training.
