Growing Stronger Through Pain

Yesterday is gone as we live on.

Today as we live, every day is a new day.

Be sure to remind yourself that it is okay

to be different from yesterday or

not quite ready for tomorrow.

Sometimes we take a step back and a step forward.

Other times, we grow more in one day than we have

in the entire year.

And that is exactly what life is about: balance and change.

I think that when enough time has passed

when you've survived what you didn't imagine you could,

there is dignity in that–

something you can own,

a pride in knowing the pain that made you stringer,

the pain that made you fight to succeed.

Someday, when you're living your dream

you're going to think of all the things that broke your heart

and you're going to be thankful for them.

As a new day began for tomorrow.

As yesterday is gone.

Mirror, Mirror

Not everyone is suffering loudly,

But we are all in pain, so be a little more kind

toward the quiet ones.

for they have pain has no sound.

Never trust a mirror, for a mirror always lies.

It makes you think that you are worth that you can see from the outside.

Never trust a mirror it only shows what's skin-deep,

can’t see how your eyes flutter

When you're drifting off to sleep.

It doesn't show you what the world sees

When you’re only being you

Or how your eyes light up when you’re loving what you do.

It doesn’t capture when you’re smiling

Where no one else can see.

And your reflection can’t tell you everything you mean to me.

Never trust a mirror, for it only shows your skin

And if you think that dictates your worth

Every time you look within yourself

Never trust a mirror, for a mirror always lies.
