Matching Grant Approved by Dr. Phillips
ORLANDO - Dr. Phillips Charities of Central Florida recently approved The Florida Safety Council (FSC) for a grant of up to $25,000 to launch its StreetSmart® program, helping disadvantaged youth gain critical safe driving skills and their driver’s licenses in order to secure meaningful employment. The Safety Council has initiated a campaign to raise the matching dollars and has already secured almost $5,000 in committed funds. “With the help of our members, friends and supporters, we will reach this goal quickly and begin changing lives for the better,” the Director said. The organization will be working with several Central Florida youth organizations to identify young people in need. The Florida Safety Council is known not only for its driver education and occupational safety training but for its behavior modification training, as well. StreetSmart® participants who are experiencing challenges with coping skills and practical life training may be given the opportunity to participate, at no cost, in one or more of the FSC’s life skill programs featuring goal-setting, problem-solving, impulse control and more.
