Welcome to March Mammal Madness with the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust!

This page is for the 2025 MMM Tournament and bracket pool. NEWLT will be hosting a bracket pool again in 2026, and we will have an updated page for that tournament. However, it will largely be the same, so this page can show you what it's all about.

The Basics

What is March Mammal Madness?

March Mammal Madness is a simulated tournament that takes a group of animals and asks the question "Who Would Win?" It's a way to learn more about the natural world through creative storytelling and fun competition, all run by a team of professional researchers and educators.

What is the bracket pool challenge

March Mammal Madness revolves around a bracket with each of the different animals, similar to a NCAA March Madness bracket. Players can predict the winners of the matchups by filling out a bracket in advance. The Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust is hosting a bracket pool challenge, and we invite community members of all ages to join in by entering a bracket.

How to Participate:

Participating is free and easy:

  1. Sign up to play at the link below
  2. Join our online bracket pool
  3. Fill out your bracket by predicting the winners for each matchup (you can research all the combatants thoroughly, just make random guesses, or any level of effort in between)
  • Brackets are due by 7:00 PM (CST) on Monday, March 10.
  • You can work on your bracket until that point, so you are free to start it and come back, make changes to it, etc.

Then, you just follow along as the winners of each matchup are revealed. We'll be sending out updates throughout the tournament. At the end, we'll have prizes for the top scoring brackets!
