PRESBYTERY GATHERING

 

The Presbytery of Cincinnati gathered on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Loveland Presbyterian Church. 59 voting members were present, along with 20 non-voting attenders (corresponding members, staff, and visitors), representing 33 of our 63 congregations. The minutes of the meeting are available upon request. Here are some highlights:  

 

The Presbytery reported a number of ACTIONS through its committees and commissions, and took additional actions at this gathering:   

Approved a One Hopeful Fund grant for the West Cincinnati Presbyterian Church summer youth program. 

Approved or renewed calls and covenants for pastoral leadership for: 

  Rev. David Annett – associate pastor, Knox

  Rev. Sarah Sparks-Franklin – designated pastor, Heritage

  Rev. Hannah Quick – associate pastor, Mt. Washington

  Rev. Sangdae Park – stated supply, Korean of Cincinnati

  Rev. Amy Snow – interim pastor, First, Fort Thomas  

  Rev. Donald Smith – stated supply, Christ

  Ruling Elder Timothy Sakelos – commissioned pastor, Calvary

  Ruling Elder Jack Kleier – worship leader, Third

  Ruling Elder Demetrius Springer – worship leader, Third

  Ruling Elder Jerry Grigsby – commissioned pastor, Providence

Received into membership:

  The Rev. Sarah Sparks-Franklin from the Miami Valley Presbytery

  The Rev. Hannah Quick  - from South Louisianna Presbytery

  The Rev. Matthew Demick from the Presbytery of New York.

Appointed Moderators for several sessions. 

Approved a Presbytery Antiracism Policy.

Elected members of committees and commissions. 

Approved the purchase Hillsboro First PC of a building for use with their youth ministry.

 

 

 

The Presbytery heard presentations for INFORMATION:

From moderator Elder Reggie Roberts, encouraging members and congregations to faithful engagement in the life of the Presbytery, and inviting members of the presbytery to add their voice to a petition of concern about gun violence in the greater Cincinnati area. 

On the Synod of the Covenant’s new initiative to work with presbyteries to advance the CRE ministries. 

From PCUSA Ministry Engagement Advisor Lauren Rogers concerning participation in the mission and work of the denomination.

The 1st Quarter 2024 Financial Report of the Presbytery Operating Budget

From PYC co-chair Tracie Long, about the purpose and programs of the Presbytery Youth Committee.

An expression of thanks for the work of Stated Clerk the Rev. Erwin Goedicke upon his retirement.  

The Presbytery concluded its meeting with a SERVICE OF WORSHIP

led by musicians from Loveland Presbyterian Church, and included prayer led by Rev. Ross Reddick (Sycamore), an offering for the One Hopeful Fund, the proclamation of the Word by Rev. Becky Bosarge (at-large) and the celebration of the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper presided by Revs. Sharon Carter (Greenhills) and Erwin Goedicke (HR).
