Course Description

This course will provide dentists with essential tools and strategies to incorporate into their practice to minimize risks. Participants will learn to identify and reduce loss exposure while utilizing risk management principles and resources. Key topics will include informed consent, patient dismissal and best practices for issuing patient refunds.

Objectives:

-      Adopt a proactive approach to risk management

-      Establish a comprehensive informed consent and refund protocol

-      Recognize key factors that warrant patient dismissal

Emily Smith, RDA, AIC

Emily Smith joined TDIC as a Risk Management Analyst in February of 2022. Emily serves as an advisor to dental professionals in the areas of professional, employment and business liability risk management. Prior to joining TDIC, she worked in both corporate and private practice settings specializing in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Emily brings over 25 years of dental experience in front and back-office operations, office management, acquisition, and integrations. Ms. Smith maintains an active Registered Dental Assistant license and Associate in Claims designation. Emily provides experienced support and guidance to dental professionals through her extensive background in dentistry and utilization of established risk management resources and tools to minimize potential risks in professional, employment and business liability.
