Museum Passes

The Friends sponsor the MFPL’s thriving museum pass program, providing free or reduced admission to a number of museums and cultural institutions in the area. Museums in the program that are currently open and accepting passes are: MOMA, Guggenheim Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Montclair Art Museum and Intrepid, Air & Space Museum

Member-Merchant Initiative

The Friends Member-Merchant Initiative is a brand new benefit designed to support local Millburn-Short Hills businesses and strengthen Millburn library ties with the community. 

Show your Friends membership card to enjoy benefits at various 

participating businesses in the Millburn-Short Hills community.

Fireside Book Club

The Fireside Book Club meets monthly on Mondays at 2:00 pm or 7:00 pm via ZOOM. Books are on reserve at the reference desk and electronically. Discussions are lively and will be led by the author, a member of the library staff, or other special guests. Fireside Book Club meetings are free and open to the public. Registration is required to receive the ZOOM link.

Little Free Libraries

Looking for a great read? Come check out one of our Little Free Libraries. Friends of the Millburn Library maintains LFLs in Taylor Park and at the Short Hills Train Station.

We

have resumed stocking our LFLs and refill them with wonderful

selections periodically.

With songs such as “What if Your Girlfriend was Gone,” “Sweatpants,” and 

“17, 700 Bottles of Hand Sanitizer,” Carla combines edgy humor with musical artistry. 

 

This program is recommended for adult participants.

Fireside Book Club and Author Talk:

Beyond the Ghetto Gates with Michelle Cameron


Monday, March 1, 7:00 pm

Join us as we welcome Michelle Cameron for a discussion of her critically acclaimed novel Beyond the Ghetto Gates. Set in Ancona, Italy during the turbulent days of Napoleon Bonaparte’s Italian campaign, Cameron’s historical novel tells the story of two very different cultures colliding when French troops free the city’s Jews from their repressive ghetto.

Michelle Cameron is a director of the NJ-based educational organization The Writer’s Circle, that offers creative writing programs to children, teens and adults. Ms. Cameron is also the author of works of historical fiction and poetry, including The Fruit of Her Hands: The Story of Shira of Ashkenaz and In the Shadow of the Globe.

Join Vaishali Chandrashekar, founder of Cook Consciously with Vaishali for a ZOOM demonstration from her kitchen as she cooks a few of her favorite healthy Indian recipes which are simple to make and fancy enough to be served for any occasion.

Vaishali will be demonstrating:

Palak Paneer

Fresh spinach curry with paneer (Indian cheese cubes) and warm spices.


Tandoori Gobhi

Cauliflower florets marinated with tandoori spices and roasted and broiled to charred perfection.


Beets with Chickpeas and Fresh Coconut.

South Indian style sauteed shredded beets combined with chickpeas and fresh grated coconut.

Participants would receive an ingredient list ahead of time and could either participate along with Stephanie or do at a later time. The program would consist of Stephanie demonstrating how to make 2 Compound Butters, 2 Infused Oils and 2 Simple Syrups.
