Join us for one or all three of the upcoming John Crawford Nature Trails Tour

Here is all you need to know for each day of the tour:

Saturday, October 4th

at 10:00AM

(Approx. 70 minutes, or 1.5 miles)

We will tour the Bremerton Spur, Carroll Creek, and Pendower Nature Trails.

Starting at the Cul De Sac at the bottom of Heathrow Lane, we will walk the short Bremerton Spur to Carroll Creek Trail, carry on north to Newbridge Road, cross over to continue to Carroll Creek, merging into the Pendower Trail going behind Lockerbie, leading around the perimeter of Glenmore to the end at Ashton Road. (Just outside of Glenmore)

To get a ride back to your car, we suggest some folks park their cars at the round area at the top of Winding Road (which is in Rivanna Village, this is where the school bus delivers kids.

And others can park at the start of the trail, on the Cul de sac of Heathrow Lane. Then with ride sharing, and volunteer vehicles, everyone can be driven back to their cars.

Saturday, October 11th

at 10;00AM

(Approx. 80 minutes, or 2.3 miles)

The big one, the Rivanna Trail, in all its glory.

Park cars at the sports field. Walk down to the entrance to the trail, then we will walk along the river as John shows us his 2018 pictures of what the flood did to the riverbank.

We will then go past the driving range, along the 17th, around the big pond, and continue through the woods to where the Queens Croft Trail meets the Rivanna Trail, and walk up the hill to exit on Queens Croft, where folks have parked and ready to ride-share back to the Sports Field.

Again, Volunteers can assist in driving walkers back to their cars.

Saturday, October 18th

at 10:00AM

(Approx 60 minutes, or 1.3 miles)

We will tour Carroll Creek Trail and Bluebird Trail.

From the South entrance to Carroll Creek Trail, ( park at the Sports Field) walk north up Carroll Creek Trail, passing Osprey and Waterside Spurs, continuing around the 6th tee, then cross safely around the tee box onto the Bluebird Trail which leads to Farringdon Road, where the tour ends.

Cars can be parked on the Cul de sac of Charterhouse Court, so that some walkers can assist in driving others back to their cars at the Sports Field.
