Vaccine Education and Equity Project

South Central PA Immunization Coalition

Team member and Coalition Member Brittney Fuhrman at a community library doing community education and outreach!

The South Central Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition (SCPIC) is an independent, community coalition that utilizes innovative education, communication, and collaboration to encourage all residents in the 7-county region to receive all recommended, age-appropriate vaccinations. Part of the work the coalition does is to provide community oriented education to promote vaccine education. There are three components of this project.

Free Book Donation

The South Central Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition (SCPIC) purchased brand new children's books to educate about the science behind vaccines, vaccine awareness and addressing vaccine hesitancy. Our organization is looking to donate free books to organizations across the region. All organizations are eligible for free book donations! All we need is your information to contact you and we will coordinate the book drop off.

Our program has a variety of books in both English and Spanish that are available for donation. Our books have an age range of baby books all the way to young adult books.

If you are interested in obtaining books for your organization, please fill out our form here.

Event Tabling

Our volunteers and staff are equipped to come with literature and education and have the ability to come to your organizations events such as a PTO Night, a health and wellness fair or other community event to provide interactive tabling for kids education and for adults as well.

We have done tabling at local colleges and universities and community resource fairs! Reach out to us to see how we can partner with you and support your events.

Educational Programming

Our team of Public Health and Healthcare Professionals are able to bring in-person presentations and education to your organizations and communities surrounding vaccines, vaccine hesitancy, and other valuable health related information! A few of our examples include:

  • A “Story-Time” Presentation (Geared towards Pre-K to Elementary Aged)
  • Educational Presentation (Could be tailored to any school-aged range)
  • Presentation for Parents about Childhood Vaccines

Our programming can be tailored to meet the needs of your audience. We have presented at Head Start Programs, Early Childhood Programming at Public Libraries and Community Groups.

This programming is free!

Our team is always expanding, and we are looking for partners and individuals who are interested in building this program into a more robust resource in our region.
