Going into u15 tryouts for the 2025-2026 we evaluate all players based on their competitive level of play in the age group regardless of their grade in the fall of 2025. We form u15 teams for the 2025-2026 based on this competitive level of play.
Our full program for the u15-u19 age groups begins in late October-early November since a significant number of the players in these age groups participate in high school based programs in the early fall. Our program for the u15-u19 age groups includes 3 cycles:
1. Late fall training and playing cycle (approximately 6 weeks) early November - mid December. The boys typically train on Mondays and Wednesdays and the girls on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Teams have friendlies, league matches or tournament events on selected weekends in this cycle. Training is at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex.
2. Winter training - early January - late February. The winter training cycle includes a sports performance component and a soccer training component indoors. Selected teams will also have outdoor training and league match competitions during this period depending on the final league scheduling.
3. Spring training - late February - late May. The boys and girls train on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays outdoors at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex. Selected teams have the potential for expanded playing opportunities in June with USYS and US Club Soccer qualifying events.
We offer a separate early fall 2011 program for u15 players who are either in the 8th grade or do not play for a high school program. The program is a separate registration and the registration is similar to a camp registration, players that register for the early fall 2011 program are part of the program, there is no tryout for this program.
The early fall 2011 program includes 10 weeks of training from mid August - late October. Players train 3 times a week at Athletes in Action with one of the training sessions each week conducted at the AIA sports performance training center. Keenan Mikal, our director of boys player development, runs our early fall 2011 program for the boys. Scooby Daniels, our director of coaching, runs our early fall 2011 program for the girls. Players will participate in an early fall league and 2 tournaments. Typically we will have 2 teams in this early fall program for each gender. We can have more teams based on the number of players that register for the program. Players will generally be grouped together for league and tournament play based on their competitive level.
The program is unique in that league and tournament play are opportunities to compete and develop as the results have no bearing on team standings for the 2025-2026 season. Our approach to the early fall 2011 program is to manage the program similar to a camp program with specific focus on both technical and tactical player development aspects of training.
After the conclusion of the early fall 8th grade program and the conclusion of the high school season, all 8th and 9th grade u15 will start their participation in our full u15 - u19 program in late October/early November. Players will participate on their team for which they were placed following the May 2025 tryouts.
The registration for the early fall 2011 program is now open and will remain open until early August, after the conclusion of high school tryouts. Our preference is for 2011 players to complete their registration for this program in early July so that we can plan for league and tournament registration for fall 2025. We leave the registration open into early August so that players that do not make their high school team have the option to participate in the early fall program. Typically we are able to accommodate these players based on our planning with the player registrations received by early July.
There are no conflicts for players accepting a position on an Ohio Galaxies u15 team in May of 2025 and playing for their high school team in the fall of 2025. The high school season and Ohio Galaxies FC full u15 - u19 season do not overlap. Once a player plays their last high school soccer match in the fall they are eligible to participate in club soccer. Players that are on varsity high school teams that advance deep into the OHSAA tournament in November will delay their participation in our Ohio Galaxies FC club program until their high school season is concluded.
A number of factors impact team formation beginning with the u15 season including the OHSAA rule limiting 6 players from one high school program on one club soccer team. During the u15 season, 8th grade players that did not play high school soccer do not count against this club team rule.
Our focus is providing the right competitive fit for players and as a result we do not distinguish between 8th and 9th grade players during the u15 season. Our focus on 8th grade players in the early fall is to continue their soccer development so that these players keep pace with their 9th grade teammates who are playing for high school programs.
The early fall 2011 program is a separate registration because players are not required to participate. Sometimes we will have u15 players that are committed to our full year program which begins in late October/early November but choose to participate in activities other than soccer in the early fall. Some players that participate in our early fall program but also choose to participate in cross country or other fall school activities. The program has the flexibility to accommodate these players who may choose to train but have limited participation in match play.
The separate registration platform gives us the option to offer this program to players from other soccer programs which may not offer an early fall program for u15 players. Once these players complete our early fall program the players are transferred back to their home club and team for the remainder of the 2025-2026.
For the fall of 2025 the registration cost for the early fall 2011 program is $350. the cost included the following:
