This workshop is designed to provide both startups and existing businesses with a comprehensive understanding of branding fundamentals and practical steps to create a charismatic brand. Through a combination of principles backed by real-world examples and interactive small group breakouts, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to effectively differentiate yourself, foster trust and loyalty, command premium pricing, and navigate market challenges with confidence.


This workshop will be conducted by Mary Tan, an expert in building and growing brands. She will discuss ways to provide your brand with a clear identity, a powerful story, and a messaging strategy that resonates and will help propel your business forward.

At the end of this in-person workshop, you will have the knowledge and resources to:  

  • Define your brand's underlying purpose and values to establish a strong brand foundation.
  • Find out and understand your target audience's needs, preferences, and pain points.
  • Leverage storytelling to craft a compelling brand narrative that resonates with your audience and sets you apart from competitors.
  • Implement strategies for maintaining brand consistency across all touchpoints, from messaging to visual presentation, to build trust, credibility, and loyalty with your audience.
  • Adapt and evolve your brand over time, helping it stay relevant and competitive in a dynamic market landscape.

About the Speaker


MARY TAN


Mary Tan has been a marketing and branding expert for over thirty years. She worked at Colgate Palmolive in a wide range of marketing and strategic planning roles. She managed and helped build major brands such as Palmolive, Colgate, and Ajax both in the US and 150 other markets around the world. Mary has in-depth knowledge of branding, product innovation, business development, business management and strategic planning. She is an expert on inbound and outbound marketing for profit and non-profit companies. She has also worked in retailing as well as nonprofit and publishing sectors. 


Mary is a co-founder of New York Women in Business, a coalition of nonprofit, government and professional women’s organizations dedicated to Building Businesses, One Woman At A Time.
