In the wake of the recent California wildfires, NEW Women's Business Center stands united with those who have experienced the unimaginable loss of their homes and businesses. We understand the overwhelming challenges you face during this difficult time, and we want you to know that we are here to support you.

To help you rebuild and regain stability, below are helpful links:

Los Angeles Wildfire Response Funds

LA Region Small Business Relief Fund

https://lacounty.gov/relief/?utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=email&utm_source=sendgrid.com

United Way Wildfire Response Fund

With this fund, we are drawing upon our experience from past wildfires to address urgent, ongoing needs, which include support for low-income individuals whose livelihood has been disrupted, people experiencing homelessness and those who provide services to support them, and disruptions to community organizations and small businesses. Page also includes link to resources.

Pasadena Community Foundation: Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund

The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has opened the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund providing an opportunity for those who want to support immediate and pressing needs even as the fire continues to spread. The Pasadena Community Foundation Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund provides flexible support to local nonprofit organizations as they respond to the local Eaton Canyon fire.

Jewish Free Loan Association

Offering zero-interest, zero-fee emergency loans of up to $15,000 for essential expenses, such as temporary housing, food, medical costs, and more. Loans of up to $2,000 are available without guarantors.

IDEPSCA

They have a communication network of 500 affected workers they started assembling during the Woolsey Fires, and as an example, I know they had half a dozen workers sheltered in place at the Malibu Library who commute over from El Monte. They are also trying to ensure alerts and information get out in other languages given many of their members are monolingual. In addition to replacing wages from being out of work, they help with health equipment, gas, and food. Many of their members are unable to receive government assistance.

California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund

This fund focuses on intermediate and long-term recovery needs that follow wildfires in California, with special efforts to serve the most disaster-vulnerable populations including the disabled, farmworkers and other migrant communities whose homes and employment are impacted by wildfires, Native American populations living on or proximate to impacted tribal lands, economically-disadvantaged populations without resources to respond to and recover from wildfire impacts, and specific impacted vulnerable populations whose lives have also been affected by structural racism which limit their practical ability to access disaster response, recovery and mitigation resources. Page also includes resources.

LAFD Wildfire Emergency Funding

The LAFD Foundation is actively seeking funds to equip our LAFD members battling wildfires with equipment and supplies such as:

• EMERGENCY FIRE SHELTERS – These personal fire shelters are deployed when the unthinkable happens and firefighters become overrun by flames. These light, compact shelters are designed to reflect radiant heat, protect against convective heat, and trap breathable air within.

• HYDRATION BACKPACKS - Firefighters can be on the front lines of a wildfire for up to 12 hours. These unique backpacks carry three quarts of water and are vital to keeping firefighters healthy on the fire line.

• WILDLAND BRUSH TOOLS – Clearing fire roads and creating natural barriers to slow the spread of fire is a necessary but labor-intensive and exhausting process. These light and durable hand tools are specially designed to help ground crews cut through tree limbs, clear brush overgrowth, and remove potential fuel sources.

California Department of Education Disaster Relief Fund

The California Department of Education is partnering with SupplyBank.org Disaster Relief Fund to provide assistance for students, teachers, and school staff impacted by the devastating fires blazing through Southern California.

medium- to long-term recovery, especially among populations made vulnerable by systemic inequities.

Direct Relief: California Fire Relief

During fire responses, Direct Relief provides N-95 masks, medicine, and other resources to healthcare agencies and first responders in wildfire-affected communities across California. 100% of donations to Direct Relief’s wildfire response fund directly support efforts to assist individuals impacted by fires in Palisades, Altadena, and across California, providing critical aid where it’s needed most.

Community Clinic Association of LA County

CCALAC’s Emergency Management Team has been reaching out to our members to gauge impact and needed resources/response, and we are coordinating with partners at the local, state, and national

level.
