Tanzania is a destination every world traveler should visit once in their lifetime. This East African country boasts some of the largest and most famous national parks and reserves in the world, including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, and Kilimanjaro National Park, all home to the “Big Five” animals. Our journey begins on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the largest freestanding mountain in the world and home to the Chagga people, where we get to experience the "no hurry" African way of life off the beaten track. A group of expert guides led by Simon Mtuy (an environmental activist and a world-class athlete featured in National Geographic) will take you to some of the best wildlife-watching destinations on earth!

Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and transferred to your overnight accommodations in Arusha. Take time to relax and settle in after your long journey. In the afternoon, we will gather for a yoga practice, welcome circle, and group dinner.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Today marks your first full day in Africa! Begin with morning yoga and a nourishing breakfast before departing for Tarangire National Park (approx. 2-hour drive). Upon arrival, you’ll head directly to our beautiful tented camp for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive in the “Baobab Capital of the World.” Tarangire is known for its sweeping savannas, massive elephant herds, lions, leopards, giraffes, and buffalo, as well as the last remaining pack of wild dogs in northern Tanzania. With over 300 bird species, it’s a paradise for bird lovers. After your game drive, return to camp for dinner and a restful evening beneath the stars.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Enjoy a beautiful morning in Tarangire, beginning with yoga and breakfast. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch out in the park. Spend the day exploring Tarangire’s stunning landscapes and wildlife—majestic elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, and vibrant birdlife among the ancient baobabs. Unwind back at camp where the sounds of the bush accompany dinner under the stars.

Day 4: Maasai Medicine Walk

Enjoy a relaxed morning with yoga and breakfast at your leisure before departing Tarangire. After about an hour and fifteen-minute drive, we’ll arrive near Lake Manyara for a fascinating Maasai Medicine Walk. During this immersive experience, learn how the Maasai use roots and plants for healing and visit an Orpul area where young warriors study traditional medicine with village elders. This walk offers a rare glimpse into the wisdom and daily life of the Maasai people. Following lunch, we’ll continue our journey toward the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approximately one-hour drive). Arrive at your lodge in time to settle in, enjoy dinner, and rest before the adventures to come.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today we descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, often called “Africa’s Eden.” This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to over 30,000 animals living within its 100-square-mile basin — a remarkable microcosm of East African wildlife. The 2,500-foot descent into the crater offers unforgettable scenery, where acacia forests, swamps, and open plains attract lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras, and countless other species. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before returning to the lodge for evening yoga and hanging by the fire.

Day 6: Serengeti Plain

After breakfast, we set out toward the central Serengeti, a scenic 3.5-hour drive through the highlands and plains of Ngorongoro. The Serengeti is one of the world’s most iconic wildlife sanctuaries — home to more than four million animals, including the “Big Five.” The vast plains, dotted with acacia trees and rocky outcrops called kopjes, create the quintessential African landscape. Upon arrival, settle into your luxury tented camp and enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner under the stars.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

All of our days in the Serengeti will be guided by expert naturalists and wildlife specialists who share their deep knowledge of East African ecology. Today, experience thrilling morning and afternoon game drives as we journey from central toward western Serengeti, following migration paths and observing the incredible diversity of wildlife. Between safaris, enjoy yoga, rest, and time to soak in the beauty of the wild.

Optional Activity: For those seeking a once-in-a-lifetime perspective, join an early morning Hot Air Balloon Safari ($595 per person; must be booked in advance). Float silently over the plains as the sun rises, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush — an unforgettable Serengeti experience.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park

Enjoy one final day exploring the Serengeti’s breathtaking wilderness with morning and afternoon game drives. Each outing offers new encounters and unforgettable moments with nature. Return to camp for closing yoga, a final dinner celebration, and a starlit evening honoring the journey you’ve shared.

Day 9: Trip Concludes

The trip concludes after breakfast and a morning departure from the Serengeti. We will board an Auric Air flight from the Serengeti airstrip, arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) around midday to connect with your international departures later that day.
