Treatment after an injury-causing event can take months or even years before the patient reaches recovery. Good medical records establish a solid foundation for managing a patient’s first-party personal injury claim, and for meeting the burden of proof and establishing damages for the third-party claim. This session will discuss the foundations of creating and maintaining good patient medical records alongside the when, why, and how of referring patients for additional medical evaluations. We will provide updates to Washington statutes and case law, and present case studies to help understand how to best manage the treatment phase of a patient’s personal injury case. |
