Join Jen Rogers, public historian and Museum Director of the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, for a historical recreation of a Victorian-era mummy unwrapping.
Don’t worry—you won’t be witnessing the unwrapping of a real human mummy. The mummy used in this presentation is a reproduction created for historical demonstration. However, the program may include graphic imagery, descriptions, and simulated elements related to mummification and Victorian mummy unwrapping practices.
Discover the science, sensationalism, and strange fascination behind these unusual events—and experience the spectacle much as Victorian audiences once did.
