Success in Progress: Kayla's Journey
When Kayla enrolled in Ohio's Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP) in January 2025, she was preparing for the arrival of her first child while navigating housing, transportation, and career uncertainty. She was living with a friend's family, sharing a vehicle, and looking for a path toward greater stability for herself and her growing family. Working alongside her CCMEP career coach, Kayla participated in career exploration, developed workplace skills, and completed work experience opportunities while preparing for motherhood. After welcoming her daughter in June 2025, she returned to the program with renewed determination, arranging reliable childcare and transportation so she could continue pursuing employment. Like many job seekers, Kayla encountered setbacks along the way. Rather than becoming discouraged, she remained focused on her goals and continued searching for the right opportunity. In March 2026, her persistence led to a full-time position as a Fleet Specialist with Diebold Nixdorf, earning $21.25 per hour. Today, Kayla has achieved some important milestones, including stable housing, reliable transportation, and meaningful employment. Her story reflects the impact of combining personal determination with the individualized support and opportunities available through CCMEP. While her journey will continue, she has built a strong foundation for future growth—for herself and her daughter.
