Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, provider—or all of the above, like Dr. T—Connect with us where you’ll find insights, stories, and resources to support you.

As summer winds down, this month's issue is devoted to all things back to school, especially for the 2.5 million American's in the sandwich generation.

The sandwich generation-not a lunchbox staple

If you’re caring for both your kids and your aging parents, you’re not alone—you’re one of 2.5 million Americans in today’s sandwich generation. And this is no baloney: adults in this group often face stress-filled days, endless responsibilities, and the impossible task of being in two places at once.

The good news? The answer may be simpler than you think. This is a perfect time to divide and conquer. Watching your daughter score her first soccer goal is priceless. Grocery runs or sitting in on every doctor’s visit? Not so much. When we delegate what we can, it frees us to make memories in the moments that truly matter.

So when 4 o'clock rolls around, who gets the MVP, the soccer mom on the sidelines or the devoted daughter at mom’s medical appointment? With ConnectCare MD, you don’t have to choose.

We’ve got your back in the doctor’s office, so you can be fully present where only you can and want to be— cheering on your kids and savoring the moments no one else can replace.

The Caregiver's Back To School Checklist

We all know that the right tool is what is needed to get the job done. Kid's need school supplies, caregivers need their own tools for success too! There is no better time that back to school time to consider what is in your tool box. This is a great time to review and update your medication and allergy lists, think about your end-of-life wishes and document them on your MOLST form, review the location and content of your legal documents/will and ensure your medical insurance card is handy. Here's a checklist to make sure you are ready for caregiving no matter what time of year it is!

Can gym class, lunch and study hall prevent dementia?

For those of us whose favorite classes were lunch, "study" hall and gym class-here's some good news! A new study published last month by the Journal of the American Medical Association found that participating in structured programs that focus on healthy eating, staying active, and socializing with others can actually lower the risk of memory loss and dementia. Even when we are born with a higher than average genetic risk of dementia, choosing healthier lifestyle behaviors can keep us in the drivers seat and in control of our destiny. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” This research is a powerful reminder that the choices we make every day including what we eat, how we move, and who we connect with can give us more energy, more connection, and more quality in the years ahead.
